The President of Russia visited Astrakhan Shipbuilding Production Association (ASPO)


On October 31st Vladimir Putin observed the production cycle for Caspian field drilling platforms at the ASPO yard (a part of USC) and started oil production at Vladimir Filanovsky field.

The Russian leader was accompanied by the Presidential Envoy to the Southern Federal District Vladimir Ustinov, Governor of Astrakhan Region Alexander Zhilkin, President of USC Alexey Rakhmanov, President of PJSC “LUKOIL” Vagit Alekperov.

Alexey Zhidakov, a CEO of the “Caspian Energy” Group, which includes ASPO, reported to the President about the company`s resources available for construction of vessels and marine facilities, as well as about current projects. In the workshop Vladimir Putin talked to the workforce.

During the teleconference the Russian leader took part in the oil production launch ceremony for the ice-resistant fixed platform (LSP) built at the ASPO yard and installed at the biggest Caspian field named after V. Filanovsky. The contract on construction of LSP-1 was signed by heads of PJSC “LUKOIL” and JSC “USC” on November 9th 2011 in the presence of Vladimir Putin. Ice-resistant fixed platform is the main V. Filanovsky field development facility.
