Keels of two dry cargo vessels were laid at Lotos Shipyard

Keels of two dry cargo vessels pr. RSD-49 for West Shipping JSC were laid at Lotos Shipyard (44% shares are owned by United Shipbuilding Corporation JSC, 45,72% shares – to Caspian Energy Group JSC) in Astrakhan on the 27th of January, 2011.

Price of one vessel is 490 mln. RUR. The contract for construction of the dry cargo vessel was signed in Moscow on the 27th of October, 2010. Launching and commissioning are scheduled in June 2012.

Universal dry cargo vessels of "river-sea" class with deadweight 7000 t are purposed for export and import transportation of various cargos. Bigger capacity of cargo spaces, in comparison with other Shipping’s vessels, up to 10,9 thousand cubic meters, will provide their maximum loading while grain, paper, cellulose and industrial wood transportation. The vessels will have class of Russian Marine Register of Shipbuilding, they will be exploited under Russian flag in basins of Baltic, North, Mediterranean, White, Caspian, Black and Irish seas in the area up to 100 miles from the shore.

Main characteristics of dry cargo vessels RSD-49:

  • maximum load capacity in river - about 4,53 thousand tons,
  • maximum load capacity in sea – about 7 thousand tons,
  • length - 139,95 m,
  • width - 16,7 m,
  • capacity of cargo spaces - about 10,9 thousand cubic meters,
  • minimal crew - 11 men.
